For every kid who never had the opportunity.

On November 30, 2007, we were warming up for our high school soccer practice when Rafe Maccarone, our friend, classmate, and teammate, suffered sudden cardiac arrest in front of us. The next day, he passed away and it changed everything for our community. 

We later found out that Rafe had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. If he had an ECG prior to November 30, 2007, there would have been a 95% chance he would have been diagnosed and could still be with us today. 

Unless Health was born from our loss and is informed by what we learned following Rafe’s death & our experience over the past 15 years in SCA advocacy. We never want another family, team, school, or community to experience what we did that day.
